Lake Wakatipu
Carved by a gigantic glacier 15,000 years ago, this long, thin lake stretches between Glenorchy, Queenstown and Kingston - towns that sit on its shores. At 84 km (52 mi) long and covering and area of 290 square kilometres (112 sq. mi), it is the second largest lake in the Southern Lakes area.
